Taxpayer Album Art

Taxpayer was a band that I was in with three of my best friends for roughly a decade. I had the good fortune that they trusted me enough to handle all of our album art during a time where I was honing in on my style, not to mention learning the mechanics of print work.

Photo EP

Inspired by the details of a leaf. Taxpayer’s last release. Looking back now, I could have done something a smidge more interesting with the type. Overall, for where I was at this point in my design journey, I don’t regret any of this.

Don’t Steal My Night Vision

This one was super fun. I collaborated on the concept with one of our guitarists, Maclaine, who is also a talented photographer. We strung Jay, our singer, up with Christmas lights and had him running around our other guitarist’s (Mike) back yard at night. A perfect example of multiple brains creating better solutions to problems.

We Have Arrived single

This was a single from the Don’t Steal My Night Vision album. We followed the same type treatment, but affected the cover image.

Bones & Lungs

Collaboration with Jay Marsh, the singer in Taxpayer. We built the wire structure to evoke a rib cage. The spray paint is blood.

This record was a really big deal for the band, so it deserved a well thought out design. My typography skills weren’t quite as sharp as I’d have liked back then, but this holds up.

I’ll Do My Best to Stay Healthy

Another collaboration with Jay Marsh. This is the first design I’d done centered around a photo shoot. It may be a little on the nose (at this age, a large concern of ours was what a post-college life looked like), but this design was definitely a turning point for me.
